Speakeasy Lounge & Event Room

Welcome to a celebration of our history: a glimpse back on the 1920's, 30's  era of Prohibition.    We have received a stream of praise for the magical ambiance from these glamorous decades we have conveyed in an such an elegant manner.  This is Torrington's most beautiful, romantic and exclusive new spot.

The 1919 Volstead Act almost destroyed the craft of the American Bartender by outlawing the production and pleasure of alcoholic beverages.  However, in hidden rooms and dark basements, thirsty patrons still sought spirits.  So the Speakeasy was born, booming unitl the repeal of  Prohibition in 1933.  Patrons would be given a pass word to enter and imbibe.

The term "speakeasy" comes from a patron's manner of ordering alcohol without raising suspicion-a bartender would tell a patron to be quiet and "speak easy".

You will experience the ambiance of that time in an elegant  lounge with inspiring authentic 920's era decor.  Combined with our accessible downtown location, private dining room, seating for 30  and passion for excellence, Ritz Crystal Room is a fine venue for many types of intimate or business gatherings.  Secured password entry.  Available for your next private party or meeting.

Serving dinner every Saturday evening.  Open for Warner Theathre Events.  Limited seating.   Call 860-489-1566 or text 860-459-4763 for reservations.
